No projects are flawless. You can hire the best developer in the world, and your project will still experience kinks along the way. Our first time around, we hired the wrong team. We hired a team better at making excuses than producing quality work. Many times, it took over a week for a simple email to be returned. Then came Jenna. On a strict budget to budget basis, we were nowhere close to the million dollar projects she and her team had previously developed for clients. We were but a small reminder service with lofty dreams of helping a widespread audience remember their tasks on a daily basis. My team and Jenna's saw eye to eye, and quickly shared ideas of how we could make our dream a reality. There is no other team we would rather work with when addressing the natural issues which come up along the way throughout any development process. Jenna and her team have consistently been professional, helpful and available. They have given us everything we have asked for and more. We initially found Artifex through guru.com in July 2006. We were very impressed with the combination of the president's (Jenna) business savvy, the design team's ideas and the programmers' skills; however we decided to take the cheaper route and work with a friend to build our site. You truly get what you pay for. After making almost no progress after 4 months with our first developer, countless missed deadlines, and many sleepless nights...we called in Artifex to the rescue. We had interviewed many large development companies in New York City, Chicago, Denver and Minneapolis, but we kept coming back to Artifex. When we had met with Jenna & team back in July we were impressed by Jenna's emphasis on project management which we were desperate for. After a tough choice between two companies, we decided to work with Artifex again in January 2007. We couldn't be happier with our decision. Jenna and her team are extremely professional, knowledgeable and realistic about what can be done and how quickly it can get done. We would explain a complex idea to the Artifex team over the telephone and they would figure out a way to make it a reality. We had a dedicated project manager (Paul Duffy) who was terrific. Jenna and Paul maintained constant communication with us via daily (and sometimes hourly) emails and frequent conference calls. Our partners are in New York City and Minneapolis so we were never able to meet in person (other than our initial meeting in July 2006) yet we were always able to communicate our needs to Artifex. They always met deadlines for us (which was HUGE after our previous experience), made solid suggestions on ways to make things better, pulled additional resources during crunch times and were overall a pleasant company to work with. One of their many strengths is their ability to converse in business and lay terms. My partners and I know very little about website development; however we were all able to communicate effectively which yielded a stellar product. Artifex made the process seamless and actually fun. I would highly recommend Artifex to any company large or small.
